How do I chose my immigration lawyer, and how to avoid being ripped off ?

Additional Details:
Hi, Here is the case : I am an international student F1 Visa and my wife is an US Citizen. My
record is currently terminated for low attendance. I was in an english school ( F1 Factory ) waiting
for the next fall admission for college. It have been a week that it''s terminated. I''d like to
apply for a change of status and get the green card to avoid all the hassles that come with a
Student Visa . In order to do that, I think that it would be better to hire a lawyer to take care of
everything, but finding a good one, at an affordable price, seems to be a little hard. I''m
posting here to get some advices, and some recommendations ( maybe ) for an Immigration Lawyer in
Miami Area. Also, since I gave above all the details about my case, it would be really nice to know
how much a lawyer would charge for that kind of case ( everything included ). I highly appreciate
your answers. Thanks

Hello Anonymous in Miami,

A good way to find a reputable lawyer is to contact the local county bar association for your area. They usually have a lawyer referral program where they refer you to pre-screened lawyers. A quick search on the internet for "county bar association" or "lawyer referral program " plus the name of your city, should pull up the contact information that you need. Good luck with your green card application.
