I have L1 visa and work for my sponsor company. Can I rent out my property (townhouse) in the US?

Additional Details:
I am allowed to work for my sponsor company only with L1 visa. Renting out my property is investment
activity. So I guess I can receive monthly rental fee from the tenant in the future. I have not
purchased a townhouse yet. I will close the deal in Jan. I am using mortgage. In addition, I
submitted I485 in Nov, since I won a green card lottery. If it is better to wait for green card
before renting out, I will wait for getting green cards.

L-1 means you can only be employed by the sponsor company to remain in status. Deriving income from a passive investment should not be construed as employment.
